Welcome to San Antonio Family Law
I am a San Antonio native, having graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1978. I attended the University of Texas at Austin from 1978–1981, graduating with a B.A. with Special Honors in Plan II. I then attended Southern Methodist University Law School from 1981–1984. I was licensed by the State Bar of Texas in November 1984 at age 24.
From the time of my licensure, I was in the private practice of law, both as an employee of two different local lawyers, and then beginning in 1993, as a partner in my own private practice. Early in my career, I handled a variety of civil litigation matters, but ultimately gravitated towards the practice of family law almost exclusively.
Beginning in 2014 & 2015, I began the transition to a mediation practice. I am now limiting my practice to mediation matters only.
I am a firm believer in the mediation process, because it works more often than not. Mediation gives the parties a “voice in the case” that is often overlooked in the hustle of the courtroom and the litigation process.
As your mediator, I strive to listen more than I speak, because my experience is that many parties in a mediation want to tell their story to someone other than their own lawyer. I attempt to craft creative solutions to the resolution of cases, recognizing that the entire process is about compromise on some level.
The majority of my mediations are for family law cases, although I have mediated real estate disputes, business disputes, and probate matters as well.
I offer full day mediations, half day mediations, and “drive by” mediations where we are memorializing a deal that has already been agreed to by the parties. I conduct my mediations via Zoom, or in person (my office or your office). I can also do hybrid mediations with one party being “live” and the other by Zoom.
